Intro/Letter From the Editor - Ryan Main - Sales
I would like to lead off this edition of the Pik-A-Dilly newsletter, which also happens to kick off our fourth year of 'publication', with a huge thank-you to all of our suppliers and reps who took the time to provide us with a holiday greeting to all of our readers in the December issue!!
As I pondered what to write for our 'Show Issue' of the newsletter, it occured to me that we recently turned the calendar to a new decade, a double dose of a fresh start (new year, new decade). Will this be the year that I, among others, stick to that pesky New Years resolution?? Will this be the year that you and your family decide to purchase a new, or new to you, RV to build family relationships and memories?? If the latter holds true for you, make sure you visit us in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre for the Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre Annual Show and Sale from February 4th to 7th.
I'm excited about this year's show, as we've managed to get some special buys in both sales and accessories as well as some new products. You'll read information on both of those topics below, as well as gain an understanding of what the service department goes through in the weeks, days and hours leading up to the show. We've also included a recipe that is quick and easy to make, yet non-messy, which will be great for the kids while you're looking at that new trailer for the 2010 camping season.
We have also arranged some reinforcements for this years show, as we have secured the services of several of our reps for the show. This will assist the sales department in being able to provide answers for all of our customers inquiries without being pulled in every-which-way.

Showtime is a very busy but exciting time for the team at Pik-A-Dilly. Each department has been diligent in preparing for this annual event in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre.
We’ve spent the better part of the winter working with manufacturers and suppliers to create some amazing buys that we pass on to you during this special event.
At Pik-A-Dilly, we like to think of our show as 'the first sign of spring'. This is a great chance to plan for the camping season, comparing models inside at your leisure, with the opportunity to purchase at the lowest prices of the year. By purchasing early in good quantities, we have circumvented the 2010 price increases that typically arrive in January. Further, we made a special buy on a few popular models that will have the competition in shock! Check out – a 2010 Summerland 26’ bunk model travel trailer loaded with all the usual expected options for only $16,977 – the price of a good folding camper! In addition, all show models will be reduced in price and every RV purchase will be rewarded with 1 of 8 free gifts.
If new accessories interest you, we will be displaying the latest at big discounts. How about a power hitch jack for your travel trailer for just $189? These have usually sold as high as the $395 dollar range! Shannon bought a pile of them in order to get the deal and at this price I can’t imagine anyone wanting to turn that jack manually again!
Come and visit us February 4th to 7th at the Manitoba Room in the Keystone Centre. What a great opportunity to browse the 2010 product line-up and renew acquaintances. We’re looking forward to seeing you and there are lots of surprises in store! Watch for our show flyer in your mailbox soon. Admission is free, so bring the whole family.
Sales Department News - Dave Shepherd - Sales Manager
SHOWTIME – the most exciting time of the year at Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre. A time where our customers have the opportunity to take advantage of one of a kind specials, volume discounts, factory show rebates and introductory specials, all within the warm confines of the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre. This year, in addition to all our other specials, we are introducing the ALPINE 5th wheel. Alpine is Keystone RV’s next generation of luxury 5th wheels. Come by to check out the all new Alpine. You will be amazed at the quality and appointments for the price you pay. See you at the show.
Service Department News - Heather Arthurson - Service Manager
For those of our readers and customers who may have wondered about it, this month I will describe the process that is involved in preparing for our Annual Show & Sale.
At this time we are receiving new units on a daily basis, so they need to be brought into our shop as soon as possible in order to get them washed and get all of the road grime, dirt and salt off of the undercarriage and side walls. We also try to get all of the trailers through our PDI process prior to the show, but as showtime gets closer we are not able to get the PDI finished on all of the show units.
As well as putting the trailers through the PDI process, we also have to put our hauling vehicles through a process as well. We need to make sure that everything is in good working order and that each truck is equipped with the proper tools for the trailers it will be hauling. The final Friday before our moving day (January 29 for those keeping track) entails getting our company trucks hooked up to the first trailer that will be hauled come Monday (February 1) morning. Come Monday morning (early) we all arrive and receive final instructions for the day. We have drivers for the trucks/trailers, as well as someone setup to wash units down on the Keystone grounds if it isn't too cold. We rent a forklift that can be used to move the units into the Manitoba Room and start the setup process. We also have a cleaning crew ready to give each unit a final cleaning once it is in it's proper place (which seems like a neverending process since they were all washed at the shop and potentially again at the Keystone Centre).
Once all the units are moved to their carefully planned out spot (not always on the first try) we have the whole crew (staff, friends, family members) cleaning, arranging, organizing and preparing for the show. This whole process includes long hours, very sore muscles, and the knowledge that the show portion has yet to start. As the show gets underway, our service department returns to the shop to continue on with their long winter's work left at the shop.
Once the show wraps on February 7th at 6pm, we have a crew of great people that come in to close down the show and get everything ready for Monday morning so we can make the move back up the hill.
The man hours that go into making the Annual Pik-A-Dilly Show and Sale really are uncountable because the process starts so far in advance of when people are even thinking about the show. We hope to see you all at the show because it is your presence that makes it all worthwhile.
