Intro/Letter From the Editor - Ryan Main - Sales

It is with a very heavy heart that I bring you the final newsletter of 2008.  We at Pik-A-Dilly recently lost our founding father, as Frank Main passed away on December 8th.  You may have read in a previous newsletter how Frank and his wife Shirley started Pik-A-Dilly in 1962, and to this day it remains a family owned and operated business.  It was a happy ceremony, as we reunited Frank with Shirley in a ceremony on the 11th, which would be their 60th wedding anniversary.  In my time with Pik-A-Dilly I have had the pleasure of meeting many customers who informed me that they purchased their first RV from my grandfather and are still Pik-A-Dilly customers and friends to this day.  I'm sure many of you and them will join us in wishing Frank all the best in the dealership in the sky, he always was and always will be one of the good guys. Rest in peace Grampa.

In Loving Memory of Frank Main

On a brighter note, the Christmas season is here and the number of shopping days are rapidly diminishing.  This month we'll provide you with some ideas for the RV'er on your list, and some general Christmas cheer from our family to yours.  Enjoy the read.  I hope you've enjoyed all we've provided in our once a month mailer over the past year (growing pains and all)!!  From all of the staff at Pik-A-Dilly and our families, a Happy Holiday season and all the best for a successful 2009!!

Dealership News - Don Main - General Manager

“Dear Santa” …… two words we all hold dear to our hearts at this time of year. When we were kids we couldn’t wait for Christmas morning to see what Santa left under the tree with our name on it! As we grew older and started our own families, we couldn’t wait to see the excitement in our own children as Christmas approached, letters were written and the big day arrived! As we age, grandchildren become a focus and we are able to experience the ritual once again. This is a great time of year for families to share old memories and create new ones. I maintain that families that camp together - stay together. I hope that all of you are able to bond with your loved ones during the upcoming festive season.

To all of you from all of our team at Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2009. Remember, Santa can fulfill RV’ers dreams too!

Sales Department News - Dave Shepherd - Sales Manager

With 2008 coming to a close, on behalf of our entire sales team, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers, their family and friends all the best for this holiday season.

A big thanks to all our customers for making 2008 a very successful year and what better way to start out 2009 than with a new RV.

For those wanting to beat the price increases that the swing in the Canada-US dollar exchange will bring, we still have a few remaining 2008 models and all our in stock 2009 models were purchased before the dollar change.   This simply means savings to those who want to take advantage of it.

Just think, next week the days start to get longer and it won’t be long before we are gearing up for another camping season.

Stay warm and safe and happy holiday’s to all!

Employee Profile - JP Talbot

This month I would like to introduce our newest employee. We call him JP and he has been a wonderful asset to our service department.

J P Talbot.jpg

JP was born in Swan Lake and moved to Brandon in 1999. He came to visit a cousin here and liked it so much he never left.  JP attended college achieving his accounting degree, and has two young children who are here in Brandon as well. JP started with Pik-A-Dilly in May of this year, and has been demonstrating newly purchased RV's to new owners.  He has been complimented many times on how polite and friendly he is. JP has picked up the knowledge on RV's very quickly and is now progressing just as quick in regards to the servicing of them. JP has a young and lively spirit about him which is always good to have as it somehow puts a new spark into all that work around him.

Campfire Recipe (Holiday Version)

Cooked Eggnog

**This delicious recipe for eggnog is safe for anyone to drink because the eggs are cooked in a custard before heavy cream and rum are folded in.

Ingredients:
3 eggs, beaten
1/3 cup sugar
pinch salt
2-1/2 cups whole milk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
1/2 cup rum (optional)
1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg

Preparation:
In a heavy saucepan, combine eggs, 1/3 cup sugar, and salt and beat with wire whisk. Gradually stir in milk, beating until mixture is smooth. Cook 10 to 15 minutes over medium heat stirring constantly, until mixture coats a metal spoon. Remove custard from heat and stir in vanilla. Place saucepan in a large bowl of ice water until custard cools stirring frequently; then refrigerate custard until thoroughly chilled.
In a large chilled bowl, combine heavy cream and powdered sugar. Beat until stiff peaks form. Stir in rum (if using), then fold whipped cream mixture into the cooled custard. Pour eggnog into serving bowl, and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve immediately. 10 servings
