Intro/Letter From the Editor - Ryan Main - Sales
Now that November has hit and we are starting to see a little skiff of snow here and there (more in some places for some people), the 2008 model clean up is in full swing. We are looking to pass on great deals to our friends on all remaining 2008 model RV's. Although it may not fit under your tree, why not make your deal on a new RV as the family gift this holiday season.
In this issue you'll find that the dollar has shifted making '08 models more valuable, and some tips and hints for the holidays and service scheduling for the winter months.
As always I look forward to hearing any feedback from our friends and subscribers with any comments, questions, or general tips that our other subscribers may benefit from. I can be reached at rmain@pikadilly.com. Enjoy the read and I hope your days are warm and your driveways, sidewalks etc., stay relatively clear!!
Dealership News - Don Main - General Manager
Farewell to Don Keller:
I guess in some way this has a little to do with our theme for this month’s newsletter – Year End Cleanup!
Don Keller has been our office manager for the past two and a half years, and has done an outstanding job for us, not just in accounting, but answering phones, looking after HR issues, arranging staff functions, etc. In short, Don has been a very important cog in the Pik-A-Dilly wheel, so to speak!
It may seem odd to say that it gives me pleasure to inform you that Don K (as we call him) is moving on to a new challenge. Don had a great opportunity to purchase shares in a RV Dealership in Thunder Bay, ON, and effective November 1, is the new General Manager. His wife, Micah, and son Kody will be joining him after Christmas in their new location. Congratulations to Don and his family! This is a happy occasion for the Keller family and we wish them all the best in their new venture. In the meantime, don't be surprised when it's someone elses voice answering the phone when you call Pik-A-Dilly RV Centre!
Sales Department News - Dave Shepherd - Sales Manager
“Why Wait for Spring? – Do It Now”
This quote is a jingle from back in the 1960’s encouraging people to do home renovations through winter rather than wait until spring. This jingle has never been more true for those considering the purchase of a new RV than it is right now.
This slogan could read ‘Why Wait for Spring? – Save Now’. Dealers still have a reasonable inventory in stock that they are anxious to move to avoid carrying the inventory over the winter. The inventory on dealers' lots today was bought with a dollar that was close to par with the US dollar. Everyone is aware that we are now looking at 20-23 cents on the dollar. This puts any future RV’s ordered by the dealer up in price. Interest rates for financing are holding fairly low. Those that remember the 24%-25% interest rates of the early 80’s, will attest that today’s rates are very reasonable indeed.
Waiting until spring will bring additional costs that can be avoided by your purchase now. The cost of borrowing at today’s reasonable rates make the purchase of a new RV very affordable. Couple that with the future increases in product costs and one can see that now is the opportune time to buy.
‘Why Wait for Spring? – Buy Now!!’
Service Department News - Heather Arthurson - Service Manager
Here we are in a new month. Time does go by very quickly when you are having fun. The service department is very busy right now in the process of finishing up some outstanding warranties, as well as getting started on hail and insurance claims. If anyone has any claims they need taken care of, please give us a call and we will take care of it for you. It takes some time to order parts so the sooner we order parts the sooner we will get your trailer finished. We had an extremely busy year last year with hail and insurance claims, and were so busy we were unable to get them all finished before May long weekend was upon us. As good as it was to be that busy, I hope nobody is dissappointed come May long 2009.
On a final note, if you haven't winterized your trailer yet, please give us a call. We have had some frozen RV's recently but at this point there was no damage. Give us a call, it may take more time to get them done if they are frozen, because they will need to thaw.
