Dealership News - Don Main - General Manager
The purpose of this newsletter is to share information, keep you up to date with announcements that relate to our industry, and especially keep you updated on important issues at our dealership. This month I’d like to tell you about an exciting trip that Ryan Main is about to embark on. In his leisure time, Ryan is a hockey coach. He has had a great deal of coaching experience and at one time considered a full time career in hockey. He is an “Advanced” level coach in the Hockey Canada program and is currently coaching a AAA Bantam team (14 and 15 year olds) with the Polar Ice Summer Hockey program. On August 5th, Ryan and his team embark on an 8-day trip to Sapporo, Japan to play in an International Hockey Tournament. When he was the same age as the players on this team, he was fortunate to qualify for an International Baseball program which took him to a training camp at Dodgertown in Vero Beach, Florida and then off to Holland, Belgium and France for two weeks of baseball! Ryan remembers that trip very well and is anxious to be a part of creating a similar lifetime memory for the players on his team. Congratulations Ryan. We share your enthusiasm and wish you and your players all the best of luck in the tournament!

Service Department News - Heather Arthurson - Service Manager
For this month's newsletter I would like to remind everyone to have their wheel bearings repacked. The wheel bearings are a very important part of your RV's suspension. There is nothing worse than having a blown bearing and having to limp into a shop to have it repaired. We all know that when things go wrong, one is not usually near a city or repair facility, and it usually happens at night.
Also make sure you check your tire pressure as well as the condition of your tires. Incorrect tire pressure can cause premature tire wear. An overinflated tire will cause wear in the centre of your tires and underinflated tires can cause wear on the tire's shoulders. Also be sure and check your sidewalls for cracking. You may find that the sidewalls on RV tires will wear out before the tread because most trailers do not go as far as a vehicle.
On another note we now have alot of seasonal campers due to the price of gas. I would like to remind everyone to check the fluid level in your batteries. When RV's are plugged into power the convertor is charging your battery which in turn evaporates the water inside. When topping up your battery one needs to use distilled water and once you have added water one needs to put the battery on charge.
Another common problem that happens during the summer is spider webs that will hinder the operation of your propane appliances. Spiders and bugs enjoy the smell of propane and tend to spin their web in and around the burner. It is a very good idea to have your burners cleaned as it can create a flashback when trying to light your appliances.
Last but not least please check and verify that your fridge is not part of the existing recall. We want everyone to have a great time camping but most of all we want everyone to be safe.

Diamond-Kote provides "peace of mind" protection for your vehicle.
FABRIC PROTECTION

This protective coating inhibits penetration of spills such as coffee, tea, milk, soft drinks, food and urine without affecting the fabric's natural texture. Accidents happen, be prepared and protected with Diamond-Kote fabric protection.
Camping Tips
Dealing With Insects and Bites
Remember that most mosquitoes bite early in the morning and 1-2 hours after sunset. If possible, stay in a "breezy" area since mosquitoes will have more difficulty time finding you where the wind is blowing. Avoid perfumes, cologne, hair sprays, scented soaps, scented lotions and shampoos as these usually attract mosquitoes. Wear light colors, mosquitoes seem to be attracted to bright colors.
When or if you get stung,
- remove the stinger with tweezers (or scrape across the skin with a knife)
- wash the area with soap and cold water
- if there is swelling, apply ice or a cold compress
- apply an anti-inflammatory cream to reduce inflammation and itching
- cover the area with sterile gauze / band-aid
I'm sure there are plenty of other 'home' repellants, please feel free to email me with yours and I'll share them with our readers in next month's issue!!
Campfire Recipes
Fruit Kabobs
Ingredients
any assorted fruits
1 c honey
2 tsp lemon juice
Directions
Thread on long skewers any combination of fresh, canned or dried fruits, using chunks about the same size. If using wooden skewers, soak for 1/2 hour in water before threading on fruit. Try pineapple chunks, dried apricots (soak in water first to plump), peach haves, etc. Brush with honey thinned with a little lemon juice. Grill over low heat until hot. Brush them with butter as they are grilling, if desired. Serve with the leftover hot honey sauce.
